Kaul was born on 19 May 1990 at Pathankot, Punjab, India.
His dad Tej Kaul had played cricket over three seasons in the 1970s for the Jammu and Kashmir. His Brother Uday Kaul is additionally an Indian cricketer who is a wicketkeeper-batsman and right now plays for Punjab in the local cricket.
